I am Trevor Merrill and I am a filmmaker.
I produce, direct, write, edit, and fill in any other roles that I need to.
My strengths are writing and editing and I am working on my sound work and dialogue.
I started out in video editing at the end of high school doing smash-up videos on Youtube with no training and
just free software. Several years, a video editing class, and a whole lot of self training later, I am fluent
in Final Cut 7 and Adobe Premiere CS6 and just finished editing a film that is a quarter hour long.
I began seriously writing early in high school and began with revolving stories with friends,
followed by a currently unfinished novel, and a lot of poetry. I am a firm believer in the idea of writing
what I know and while not all of my writing is direct personal experience, a lot of the emotions and concepts I
am intensely personally connected to. I have a pending degree in Film Analysis from California Baptist University
and am currently enrolled in Los Angeles Film Studies Center to complete my degree in Film Production (my
Analysis degree is pending until the completion of my Production degree). I have experience working with various
kinds of cameras and equipment and was the first Film and Photography Equipment Manager at my college. I am also the
founder of the Film Production Club at California Baptist University and was the President until leaving the main
campus this semester.
I am also a designer on the side. I was originally a Graphic Design major and took a great deal of classes in the
field, but decided against it for my Bachelors Degree as I am far more interested in film. I have experience in
the field though and I am knowledgeable in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. While it was not my main focus
in college, the quality and style of the work I have up is a reflection of any future work I would produce.
I will be at LAFSC until May 2012, and so I will be not be available for projects until then, but if you would
like to contact me about jobs or projects to occur after that day, I will be more than happy to hear from you and
see what you are working on.
I am a God-fearing man from New York, who moved across the country to go to college in California, where I met
my beautiful wife Diana. I have an extremely strong work ethic when working on projects and am a bit of a
perfectionist. I used to be the scrawny super shy kid with a speech impediment, but have pushed myself to strive
for excellence and jump into new and intimidating environments and have since become the top filmmaker at my
college, winning 5 awards including Best Picture at the school's Film Festival in Spring 2012 for Unconditional.
